On the 700th anniversary of his death on 8 January 1324, Marco Polo returns to the lagoon. The theme of travel is about discovery and coming face to face with worlds unknown, but also an intimate travel in ourselves. It is not the destination that is important but the journey!
From January 27 till February 13, Venice will become open-air theater with the Carnival Street Show all around the city of Venice with the best international artists performing music and circus-theatre. Then, the traditional appointments with The Most Beautiful Mask and the selection of the Twelve Marys will be staged.
In the Ca’ Vendramin Calergi, the official Carnival Dinner Show will return under the name of “At the Court of the Great Khan”: Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th February and from 8th to 13th February 2024.
At the Arsenale come back the extraordinary and exciting water show destination. This year “Terra Incognita” (Unknown Land). This performance will magically flood the waters of Darsena Grande on Marco Polo’s trail.
The 2024 edition of the Venice Carnival bears the signature of Massimo Checchetto, artistic director and set designer of the La Fenice Opera House.
